"It put chills on my skin. All of these very small precise movements where the music seemed as if to enter Eva's body and move for her, were fantastic."

"This programme will be remembered for its well rounded dramaturgy. The tone was set by a simple but powerful element reintroduced during the opening and closing moments, namely the movements by vocalist Manickam Yogeswaran carrying the tambura (thereby projecting its sound) and Rajyashree Ramesh's nattuvangam cymbals. Their appearance and gentle movement behind the dancer could be seen as a homage to those artists who lived in a period before a large proscenium theater forced the ensembles to assume a somewhat artificial, rigid seating positian on the left side of the stage. From a contemporary point of view, this proved to be a glimpse of another age which made the audience more conscious of the role played by musicians as they contribute much more to a dance performance than merely a "sound track".
In short, this "Berlin Margam" performance provided all the familiar highlights, and even some surprises, one looks forward to in a dance form to which some of the best creative talents from India and beyond have contributed for generations. And a large but discerning audience left no doubt that it eagerly looks forward to more."
